Glass Removal in Face Recognition

时间地点:2018-02-08, 14:00-17:00, N208

Speaker: Prof. Wanquan Liu, Curtin University

Topics:

1. Glass Removal in Face Recognition

Abstract: In this talk, I first introduce my background in research, my lab in Australia as well as collaboration in NCUT with an aim to explore more cooperations. In the second part of my talk, I will discuss the glass impact issue in face recognition and propose a scheme to remove the glasses in a face. The proposed scheme include some advanced machine leaning techniques including SVM, face detector and deep learning. Some experimental results validated the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

2. Some Discussion on Combination of artifical intelligence (AI) and Control

Short Biography: Dr. Wanquan Liu received the BSc degree in Applied Mathematics from Qufu Normal University, P. R. China, in 1985, the MSc degree in Control Theory and Operation Research from Chinese Academy of Science in 1988, and the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University, in 1993. He once held the ARC Fellowship, U2000 Fellowship and JSPS Fellowship and attracted research funds from different resources over 2.7 million dollars. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Computing at Curtin University and is in editorial board for seven international journals. His current research interests include large-scale pattern recognition, signal processing, machine learning, and computer vision.
